The Superintendent will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Wilber Enterprises, LLC d/b/a Build-Co and office out of the Corporate Offices in Ava, Missouri. Despite officing out of the Corporate Offices, this role requires travel up to 100% of the time.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW
Construction Management Act as the on-site primary point of contact for clients and subcontractors while maintaining open communication throughout the project lifecycle ensuring all assigned projects are completed on time, on budget, in compliance, with excellence in quality, and client satisfaction Presents a growth mindset during all phases of project execution with excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrating both agility and sensitivity to change management Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety regulations, quality standards, operational best practices and project timelines Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, handling multiple tasks and using effective time management Facilitate coordination between trades as necessary to ensure the project's schedule and quality is maintained Provide technical expertise and experience where needed to quickly solve complex problems Manage and improve construction project compliance and risks including but not limited to safety Lead site safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA standards Implement lean construction principles to optimize resource allocation and minimize waste Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce safety protocols, and promote worker well-being Manage the safe and efficient use of on-site equipment, vehicles, and materials Oversee the punch list process, ensure completion of as-builts, warranties, and commissioning Manage the final inspections and the client handover processes with the Project Manager Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily reports, safety reports, material logs, and inspection records Track submittals, material expediting, and milestone completions Perform hands-on tasks when required Assit the Project Manager in forecasting, scheduling, and capacity planning to meet goals and targets Assist the Project Manager in the coordination of material deliveries to meet schedule demands Focus on multiple project across various size and complexity Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities Identify and communicate material shortages, labor cost differences for each job Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit as required and on a timely basis Verify all materials used on project site conform to the project specifications Verify contractual scope of work for each subcontractor and vendors Maintain site regulations, verify that subcontractors and vendors are compliant with rules and regulations Document and report on progress and generate requests for information to the Project Manager and architect as needed Produce periodical punch lists throughout project duration to identify and record items that are needed for project completion Inspect and ensure that all projects are constructed in accordance with the contract requirements Client & Customer Service Work with the Project Manager to understand and embrace the client's goals and engage with key stakeholders and suppliers to meet the client's goals and build their dream Assess initial project contract, blueprints/plans, and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness Work with Project Manager to resolve specification, contract conflict, and scheduling issues Manage change orders and provide prompt responses to action items Work with the Project Manager to respond quickly to warranty, emergency service, and repair requests Ensure quality assurance and customer satisfaction is maintained throughout the construction process Financial & Operational Oversight Manage resources in the field and handling variable costs such as clean-up, dumpsters, joisting, etc. Provide daily reporting updates to management, clients, brands, lenders, and interested parties Develop and present project status reports, dashboards, project updates, and executive summaries Assist to improve the operational performance of construction project timelines and budgets Monitor scope changes, identifying opportunities for additional revenue or cost savings Support the Project Manager's in review and approval of subcontractor invoices and change orders Support estimating efforts to reduce installation and material procurement costs Assist with managing job cost and hitting development budgets given for each project task Assist the Project Manager in maintaining the project's schedule and to control costs on the job site Manage and track all on-site expense receipts and submit to Accounting or the Office Administrator Collaborate with Project Leadership to control project costs, implement cost-effective strategies, and make Value Engineering recommendations Supplier & Subcontractor Development Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, neighbors, and local engineers and agencies with a focus on improving competitive pricing, timing, and the quality of service Coordinate with Project Manager on direct regular meetings with subcontractors to track progress Review all contract documents thoroughly to ensure compliance with specifications and appropriateness of commercial items Continuously monitor subcontractor and vendor performance and review with co-workers Supervisor Responsibilities Build and sustain a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, teamwork, and client commitment Directly or in coordination with the Project Manager supervise subcontractors and vendors on job sites Assist in the coordination, management, and development of new superintendents Ensure subcontractors are effectively managing resources in the field Stay current with relevant training, including advanced scheduling, OSHA safety programs, and construction software such as Procore and Bluebeam. Continuous Improvement Be an embodiment and example of the company's core values Identify gaps, risk, shortfalls, overruns, or misses within a project and learn how to correct timely Provide leadership in strengthening internal and external communication across the team Represent the company at client meetings, presentations, and industry engagements as needed Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational webinars and workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and joining professional societies Annually attend First Aid Training and OSHA 10-hour classes All other responsibilities to be assigned by your supervisor or the CompanyESSENTIAL EDUCATION / PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
5+ years as a Superintendent in commercial construction or equivalent experience Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or project management (preferred) Ability to read construction blueprints, plans and specifications Understanding of all Architectural, MEP & FP Trade work (preferred) OSHA 10/30-hour certification (preferred, but not required) First Aid/CPR certification (preferred, but not required) Familiarity with construction management software is a plus Ability to speak Spanish (preferred, but not required) Close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required Regularly must stand, walk, talk and hear Occasionally must use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands/arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend or lift up to 50 pounds Valid Driver's License (required) Must be able to and willing to travel 100% of the timeESSENTIAL SKILLS
