The CCS reports directly to the Construction Manager and is responsible for assistance in managing the construction and/or rehabilitation of safe, decent, affordable housing in accordance with applicable building codes and to the technical and quality requirements of HFHFV.
Primary Responsibilities:
As directed by the Construction Manager, 1. Supervise, participate, and coordinate all aspects of building and/or remodeling assigned houses in an efficient and safe manner; maintain build schedules, schedule inspections, coordinate and participate in daily sitework and activities, maintain quality standards, and ensure house(s) are completed by the scheduled move-in day. Assists with the execution of production goals for all construction activities. 2. Educate, motivate & supervise volunteers and AmeriCorps members as they work on assigned construction projects. 3. Always ensure a safe job site for staff and volunteers as a "Competent Person" in compliance with OSHA and Habitat Best Practice standards. 4. Build and foster positive relationships with homebuyers, volunteers, staff, neighbors, vendors, and subcontractors. 5. Manage materials onsite, inspect deliveries, order/acquire materials as needed, and communicate needs ahead of time to Construction Management team. Keep the site clean and safe. 6. Demonstrates a working knowledge of best practices and significant developments and trends in the field of construction. 7. Perform volunteer check-in and check-out. Complete opening and closing operations and volunteer engagement. Support the Program Manager in positive volunteer engagement.
Communication:
1. Communicates with and builds relationships with volunteers, other staff, construction trades, and family partners on the build site, ensuring a positive experience for all. 2. Maintains professional, discrete communication and does not pass along information that may be considered private. 3. Promotes the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley.
Financial:
1. Has expenditures approved by and turns in receipts to the Construction Manager for coding and processing. 2. Works with the Construction Site Manager to identify and initiate opportunities to reduce project costs and create operational efficiencies.
Additional Requirements:
1. Construction knowledge and experience involving key aspects of residential construction, both remodels and new construction. Ability to read, interpret and communicate building blueprints and specifications to others. 2.
Physical abilities:
lift 50 lbs., bend, squat, stand, kneel, stoop, climb ladders, crawl spaces, work on roofs. 3. Ability and willingness to communicate in a clear, open, and thoughtful manner. 4. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at one time. 5. Valid driver's license. 6. Must have reliable transportation. 7. Must pass a criminal background check. 8. Must be willing to work at multiple locations in the Flathead Valley, depending on the location of current build cycle.
