QC/SSHO/Superintendent 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Havelock, NC 28532 $70,000 - $85,000 a year - Full-time Civil Works Contracting LLC. 21 reviews $70,000 - $85,000 a year - Full-time Civil Works Contracting, LLC. is seeking an experienced construction professional to serve in a combined Quality Control Manager (QCM), Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO), and Superintendent role for a federal heavy civil construction project. This position is responsible for leading field operations while ensuring compliance with all contract requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules. The successful candidate will serve as the primary on-site leader for construction execution, quality management, and safety performance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive heavy civil construction experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate project activities with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Quality Control Management
  • Develop, implement, and manage the Contractor Quality Control (CQC) Program in accordance with federal contract requirements.
  • Conduct and document preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections.
  • Coordinate testing, inspections, and quality verification activities.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and contract requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain all quality control documentation, reports, and records.
  • Identify deficiencies and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters with government representatives and project stakeholders. Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)
  • Implement and administer the Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP).
  • Ensure compliance with
EM 385-1-1, OSHA
regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate safety training and maintain required safety documentation.
  • Promote a culture of safety excellence among employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Superintendent Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all daily construction activities.
  • Manage field crews, subcontractors, equipment, and material resources.
  • Monitor production goals, work quality, and schedule performance.
  • Conduct daily planning meetings and communicate project priorities.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with project management regarding schedule updates, resource needs, and project challenges.
  • Maintain effective communication with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and project team members. Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible construction experience, including field leadership roles.
  • Minimum 2 years of specific QC management experience.
  • Experience managing heavy civil construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, safety requirements, and quality control practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software. Federal Construction Requirements The selected candidate must possess or obtain the following certifications within 90 days of hire:
  • Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) Certification.
EM 385-1-1
Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) qualifications.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification. Prior experience on USACE, NAVFAC, FAA, GSA, VA, or other federal construction projects is strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications
  • Current CQM-C Certification.
  • Current

qualifications.
  • Experience serving as Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, or SSHO on federal construction projects.
  • Knowledge of USACE and NAVFAC quality and safety requirements.
  • Experience managing self-perform heavy civil construction operations.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
