Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation and management of an Early Head Start center serving children ages 0-3. This position ensures high-quality, comprehensive services that support child development, family well-being, and full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations. The Site Supervisor provides leadership, supervision, and support to staff while fostering a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily center operations to ensure safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environments. Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and agency policies. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting requirements. Monitor classroom ratios, staffing patterns, and program schedules. Supervise, coach, and evaluate teaching and support staff. Provide ongoing feedback, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Conduct regular staff meetings and promote a positive team culture. Support onboarding and training of new employees. Ensure implementation of research-based curriculum and individualized child development plans. Monitor classroom quality through observations and assessments. Support staff in meeting developmental, social-emotional, and health needs of infants and toddlers. Support and oversee services including referrals for children with disabilities, partnering with families and specialists to ensure individualized and inclusive care. Promote strong family partnerships and engagement activities. Support staff in conducting home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and goal-setting with families. Encourage and support family driven goal planning by assisting in defining priorities and setting achievable goals. Address family concerns and connect families to community resources. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards. Monitor implementation of health screenings, immunizations, and nutrition services. Respond to incidents, emergencies, and licensing requirements appropriately. Serve as a liaison between the center and program leadership. Collaborate with health, mental health, disabilities, and family services staff. Maintain open communication with families, staff, and community partners. Monitor site-level spending, supply management, and resource allocation. Monitor attendance, enrollment, and recruitment activities to support full program utilization. Ensure proper use and care of facilities and equipment. Adhere to the Community Action Code of Ethics and confidentiality policy. Perform other duties as assigned to support agency operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise the center staff and day-to-day operations of the program. Must be on site at least 60% of the time children are in care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field. 2-3 years of experience in early childhood programs, preferably with infants and toddlers. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and early childhood best practices preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information Hardworking, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain). Background check clearance as required. Commitment to the mission of Community Action and serving economically disadvantaged populations.
