  • Full-time North Jersey Construction firm seeking an experienced MEP Project Superintendent to oversee and coordinate all field operations associated with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction projects from pre-construction through project completion.
Experience with public work projects is a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents. Coordinate and direct field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment to maintain efficient workflow and productivity. Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Office. Ability to read and interpret technical, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of institutional HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical systems and installation practices. Participate in project pre-planning meetings and assist in developing site logistics, manpower requirements, and construction sequencing. Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment installations, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Work closely with project management to ensure current drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders are properly communicated and implemented in the field. Lead weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors and field personnel to address project progress, scheduling, and safety concerns. Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and unforeseen site conditions. Monitor workforce productivity and manpower utilization to support project goals and schedule requirements. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety programs. Interface professionally with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and general contractors. Maintain daily reports documenting project progress, manpower, safety observations, deliveries, and significant field activities. Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists, inspections, testing documentation, and turnover packages.
General Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of field supervision experience in commercial or institutional MEP construction. Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical construction methods and systems. Experience supervising multiple trades and coordinating subcontractors. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills. OSHA 30 certification preferred. Journeyman, trade certification, or equivalent field experience preferred. Principles only.
