Job Description

Job Title:
Site Superintendent Reports to:
General Site Superintendent Overview:
Oversees and performs assigned site work on various sized projects. Proficient and trained in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment: Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Skid Steers, and other pieces of equipment.
Responsible for:
Ø Understanding all aspects of Construction Documents as it relates to site work and utilities Ø Performing tasks involving physical labor at assigned job site Ø Laying out and maintaining grades Ø Operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in construction, base preparation/construction and paving Ø Operating all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner Ø Maneuvering heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions; following signals from crew as needed; checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned Ø Ensuring a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance Ø Using various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping, and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling Ø Operating equipment on public roadways; maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings Ø Training new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment Ø Maintaining labor material, equipment, and trucking budgets Ø Coordinating hiring/laying off craft labor with the General Site Superintendent Ø Scheduling and sequencing work - overall schedule and two-week look ahead Ø Collaborating with Project Managers and Project Superintendent to update Project Schedule Ø Coordinating, inspecting, and verifying quantities of material deliveries to project Ø Tracking all construction equipment on project, Fahs equipment and/or rented equipment, ensuring equipment is properly running, efficiently maintained and inspections are completed daily and as required Ø Tracking changes on project including notification to the Project Manager and Project Superintendent so written notification can be issued Ø Ensuring all hand tools on project are safe, inventoried, maintained and used properly Ø Maintaining and completing daily reports along with all required safety documentation in Fahs reporting software HH2 and submitting to the Office on a weekly basis Ø Compiling weekly craft payroll and coding to correct labor class Ø Conducting weekly safety/toolbox talks, daily walk-throughs and inspections and maintaining SDS for Fahs and Subcontractors Ø Managing and enforcing all OSHA rules and regulations along with Fahs safety policies and procedures with subs and Fahs work force Ø Ensuring quality of workmanship performed on project - Fahs work as well as subcontractors Ø Coding all packing material lists delivered to project and submitting them to office on a weekly basis Ø Keeping a constant line of communication with Project Superintendent and Project Manager Ø Taking photos/video of existing conditions prior to the start of work and progress photos of the job as it progresses Ø Scheduling and assuring all tests are witnessed by Owner's Representative or Testing Agency Ø Maintaining and updating record drawings (as-builts) on a daily basis or as required Ø Ensuring completion of punch list items in a timely manner Ø Following safe work procedures and safe work practices Ø Other construction related duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Ø High School diploma/GED Ø Minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent role Ø Knowledge in civil engineering, construction and principles, practices, and methods Ø Sound understanding of Trimble Siteworks and Earthworks Ø Sound understanding of workplace safety, budgeting, and employee supervision Ø Familiar with construction management software such as: Prolog, MS Project, Excel, Sure Trak, submittal exchange Ø Proficient in understanding building plans and specifications Ø Excellent written, communication, organization, analytical and prioritization skills Ø Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment Qualitative and other attributes required: Ø Ability to plan and organize a team effort Ø Good client management and goodwill building ability Ø Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale Ø Effective time management and logical decision-making Ø Capacity to handle pressure Ø Willingness to travel extensively across the construction sites Ø Physical and mental fitness Ø Strong focus on quality and cost control and schedule
Physical Demands:
Ø Ability to continuously stand or walk Ø Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs/ladders Ø Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
Work Environment:
Ø May occasionally work in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees Ø May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces Ø Will climb ladders Ø Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud Ø Required to wear Fahs issued hard hat, safety vest and safety glasses Ø Reliable transportation required Certificates, Licenses and/or
Registrations:
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred

$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
