The part‑time Construction Assistant supports the Construction Site Supervisor with day‑to‑day construction, repair, and operational needs. This role is hands‑on and varied, combining specific carpentry skills with general construction expertise, construction site support, material and tool management, administrative tasks, customer service, and digital workflow support. The position is client‑facing and requires strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and clients of all ages and abilities. Construction & Site Support Assist the Construction Site Supervisor with daily construction activities and job site preparation, coordination, delivery, and cleanup Perform carpentry tasks Ability to measure, cut, assemble, and assist with installation work is required, including, but not limited to; repairing and building stairs, decks, ramps, and porches. Support safe, efficient job site operations in accordance with established safety practices Assist volunteers and sub-contractors on job sites, providing guidance, instruction, and support as needed. Materials, Tools, and Logistics Manage materials and supplies, including inventory tracking and organization Pick up materials from vendors and deliver to job sites as needed Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring proper use, storage, and basic upkeep Administrative and Digital Operations Assist with administrative paperwork for clients and job files Utilize digital platforms such as Jobber and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive, etc.) to support scheduling, documentation, communication, and workflow processes Ensure accurate, timely updates to digital records and job documentation Customer and Community Interaction Serve in a client‑facing role, interacting professionally with clients, including diverse people of all ages and abilities Provide excellent client service and represent the organization positively on job sites and during client interactions Work collaboratively with staff, clients, partners, and volunteers to ensure a respectful, inclusive, and productive experience Engage volunteers and partner homeowners, including vulnerable populations such as veterans, seniors, and low-income families. Ensure meaningful engagement of volunteers including assigning tasks appropriate for all skill levels, instruction, oversight and any needed corrective actions throughout the work. Knowledge and experience with construction, especially in carpentry. DMV check required . Must have a valid license and meet insurance requirements. Ability to operate cellphones, tablets and computers. Ability to work in Microsoft M365 [Word, Planner, Outlook, Excel, Teams). Ability to learn and adapt to new technology and software to continuously use current practices and technology. Flexibility regarding work assignments and work hours. High School degree, GED or equivalent work experience. Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills. Must complete Habitat for Humanity International's Competent Person certification within the first 7 days of employment .Physical Demands :
Strenuous activity requiring ability to sit, walk, carry, push, pull, lift up to; 50lbs independently, 100lbs (with partner and assistive tools such as back braces, dollies etc), climb, stoop, crawl and bend.Working Conditions :
Exposure to loud noises and other working conditions associated with construction and outdoor work. All Habitat for Humanity staff are expected to embody and uphold the organization's core values and ethical commitments in their daily work. This is a 20 hour per week average, Part-time hourly position, Tuesday-Saturday. Starting Hourly Wage $19.00 per hour. Benefits offered include 401K, AFLAC, and paid time off . Flexibility to work evenings and weekend hours as needed is required for meetings and special events. Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel required.
