Job Description

The Project Lead (PL) serves as RMT's hands-on field leader and master craftsman, responsible for driving daily project execution while creating an exceptional remodeling experience for our clients. This individual leads by example through craftsmanship, professionalism, communication, and accountability. The Project Lead spends the majority of their time actively working in the field while directing day-to-day jobsite activities, coordinating workflow, mentoring team members, and ensuring projects maintain RMT's standards of quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. As the primary RMT presence onsite, the Project Lead plays a critical role in protecting our reputation by creating confidence with homeowners, maintaining strong jobsite culture, and delivering projects that consistently exceed expectations. The Project Lead is empowered to independently solve day-to-day field challenges while escalating issues affecting scope, cost, schedule commitments, design intent, or client expectations to the Production Manager. Responsibilities Craftsmanship & Project Execution Perform and lead all aspects of residential remodeling work including demolition, framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, trim, flooring, drywall, tile, and general remodeling activities Maintain a strong understanding of all phases of residential remodeling construction Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project documentation prior to and throughout project execution Execute work according to RMT quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures Ensure projects are completed correctly the first time while minimizing rework Identify potential challenges before they affect production and proactively develop solutions Maintain awareness of project progress and support schedule execution Field Leadership Lead daily jobsite activities through organization, communication, and example Assign and direct daily work activities for assistants and supporting field personnel Create a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and growth Maintain awareness of productivity and continuously seek opportunities for improved efficiency Provide observations and feedback to the Production Manager regarding team strengths, development opportunities, and training needs Support a culture built on professionalism, respect, and pride in workmanship Training & Team Development Actively teach craftsmanship techniques, company procedures, and RMT standards Mentor apprentices and developing team members through hands-on instruction Encourage growth and development while helping others build confidence and skills Lead by example in work ethic, communication, and attention to detail Client Experience & Communication Serve as a professional daily representative of RMT within the client's home Proactively communicate project progress and immediate next steps with clients Anticipate homeowner questions and concerns before they become frustrations Build trust through respectful, timely, and transparent communication Ensure client interactions consistently reflect RMT values and professionalism Refer scope changes, pricing discussions, and contractual decisions to the Production Manager Jobsite Standards & Organization Maintain clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsites at all times Protect client property, belongings, and finished work areas Ensure dust control, jobsite security, and site protection procedures are followed Verify materials and tools are organized and properly maintained Communicate equipment concerns to the Material Coordinator and Production Manager Promote safe work practices and immediately communicate potential safety concerns Documentation & Communication Systems Complete daily JobTread logs with detailed notes and quality project photos Document progress, field conditions, and issues in a timely manner Communicate project concerns, delays, and needs proactively Ensure field information is communicated accurately to the Production Manager and project team Decision-Making Authority The Project Lead is empowered to: Independently resolve routine field conditions and day-to-day execution challenges Adjust workflow and sequencing to maintain project efficiency Direct daily field activities and labor utilization Make recommendations for process improvements The Project Lead shall escalate matters involving: Scope changes Design modifications Client commitments Schedule impacts Contractual concerns Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years residential remodeling experience preferred Strong working knowledge across multiple residential construction trades Demonstrated expertise in finish carpentry and remodeling practices Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to effectively teach and mentor others Strong organizational and time management skills Proficiency using smartphones, tablets, and project software systems Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Physical Requirements The physical requirements listed below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform essential job functions: Ability to consistently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to safely use hand and power tools Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and varying jobsite conditions Ability to perform physical work including bending, kneeling, climbing, standing, and lifting throughout the workday Additional Statement This
