Strengthen the systems. Help scale the next stage of Toledo Pole Barns. Toledo Pole Barns is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager to oversee project execution, lead Project Managers, improve operational performance, and help scale the business. We specialize in high-quality custom pole barns, including agricultural, equestrian, commercial-use, and residential buildings throughout Northwest Ohio. This is a senior operations leadership role for someone who can lead people, build systems, create accountability, improve profitability, and reduce the need for ownership involvement in daily operations. About the Role As the Construction Operations Manager, you will lead and support our Project Managers while maintaining visibility into overall project performance. You will be responsible for improving how projects are planned, executed, tracked, documented, and completed across the company. This is not a project-by-project management role. We are looking for a leader who can oversee the people responsible for projects, strengthen operational systems, and create consistency across the business. You will work closely with ownership, sales, estimating, project management, field teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and to the quality standards our clients expect. Success in this role means the business can operate smoothly, profitably, and consistently without daily involvement from ownership. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, coach, and hold Project Managers accountable across all active construction projects Provide leadership, accountability, and support to Project Managers while maintaining visibility into project performance Develop and monitor key performance indicators Create accountability systems, performance metrics Lead weekly operations meetings to review project performance, identify roadblocks, and drive follow-through Improve operational efficiency, profitability Build, document, and improve scalable processes for project handoff, scheduling, execution, change orders, documentation, and closeout Monitor project schedules, budgets, quality standards, client expectations, labor efficiency, material usage, change orders, and job profitability Hold Project Managers accountable for milestones, documentation, communication, jobsite standards, and internal processes Work with PMs to solve complex project, subcontractor, vendor, client, or sequencing issues without becoming the day-to-day Project Manager Collaborate with estimating and sales to ensure scopes, budgets, and expectations are clearly aligned before construction begins Identify operational gaps and implement practical systems to improve performance Develop future leaders within the organization Support hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, and performance management within the operations team Ensure safety standards, code requirements, and quality expectations are followed across all jobs Represent Toledo Pole Barns with professionalism, ownership, and care in both internal and client-facing situations Qualifications 8+ years of progressive construction experience, including leadership over Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, field teams, or operations teams Strong background in construction operations, project management leadership, field leadership, or construction business management Proven ability to lead people, create accountability, build systems, and improve operational performance Experience managing multiple active projects, teams, or departments at once Commercial, light commercial, agricultural, post-frame, custom construction, or related construction experience preferred Strong understanding of scheduling, budgeting, scopes of work, change orders, subcontractor coordination, job costing, and project profitability Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, site plans, and construction documents Strong decision-making skills with the ability to solve problems, remove roadblocks, and lead under pressure Excellent communication skills with ownership, Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software preferred Valid driver's license and insurable driving record Comfortable visiting active jobsites as needed to maintain visibility into project performance Compensation and Benefits Performance-based bonus opportunity Healthcare options to support your well-being Local projects within the Greater Toledo Area, with no long-distance travel Senior leadership role with direct access to company ownership Opportunity to shape systems, lead people, and influence the future growth of the company Career development and long-term advancement opportunities Our Culture At Toledo Pole Barns, we believe leadership matters.
