Vestal, New York Job Description :
Vestal Asphalt Inc., a leader in pavement preservation and construction services, seeks an experienced Superintendent / Project Foreman with a strong background in heavy highway projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet quality, schedule, and budgetary standards. This role requires effective leadership over medium to large crews and expertise in managing project schedules and, materials. Compensation is negotiable and will be determined based on the candidate's demonstrated leadership capabilities and project management experience.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide leadership and direction to medium and large-sized crews on project sites. Experience working on project's with NY State DOT, PENNDOT, and municipalities a plus. Management of project budgets, ensuring efficiency and timely completion. Perform project planning, estimating, and scheduling to meet client specifications and deadlines.
Estimating and planning:
Schedule and order materials, inspections, equipment, and workforce to meet project schedules, production goals, and specifications. Set priorities and manage time effectively to keep projects on track. Manage subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications. Coordinate and communicate effectively with state inspectors throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure safe and effective traffic control setups and patterns, following MUTCD standards. Implement
OSHA/DOT/ DEQ/ MSHA
regulations for safe working practices and protection of employees, the community and the environment on job sites. Utilize office equipment, such as digital cameras, fax machines, computers, copiers, laptops, and smart phones for project documentation and communication.
Requirements :
Associates degree and/or a minimum 5 years of experience in a project lead or superintendent role in heavy highway or road construction. Strong background in managing project schedules, budgets, and deadlines. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Knowledge of MUTCD and experience with work zone setup. Familiarity with state inspection processes and requirements. Proficiency with office equipment and digital tools for efficient project documentation. Willingness to travel and stay out of town as required by project needs. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.
