Job Description

Ainsworth-Benning Construction is seeking an experienced Vertical Superintendent to serve as a key field leader responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and execution of assigned commercial construction projects. This role provides strong on-site leadership and is accountable for all phases of construction, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality standards. The Superintendent exercises independent judgment in planning, directing, and managing job site operations while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all job site operations, including supervision of field staff and coordination of subcontractors Plan, organize, and manage daily and long-term project activities to meet schedule, budget, and quality goals Promote and enforce a proactive safety culture; ensure compliance with all safety regulations Partner with Project Managers to develop schedules, identify risks, and implement solutions Monitor productivity, job costs, and resource allocation to drive efficiency and profitability Coordinate material procurement and logistics to ensure timely delivery and proper utilization Oversee quality control to ensure all work meets specifications and company standards Maintain a working knowledge of ADA requirements and commercial building codes Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders Resolve field issues and conflicts quickly and effectively Ensure proper use and accountability of tools, equipment, and job site resources Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, safety logs, and progress updates Qualifications Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction practices and sequencing Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop field teams Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Effective communication skills with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with construction technology and project management tools (Procore preferred) Comfortable using a laptop and iPad in the field Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record Education & Experience Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience with leadership responsibilities Previous experience as a Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager required Working Conditions Work is performed primarily on active construction sites in varying weather conditions Must be able to navigate job sites, including climbing ladders and working at heights Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout job sites Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed to meet project deadlines Why Join Ainsworth-Benning?
