Full Job Description Description:
The Senior Construction Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the company's access / entry control point (ACP / ECP) construction program. In this position, you will identify, request, procure, coordinate, and / or allocate resources to execute awarded design-build, construction, and repair work from beginning to end for governmental and commercial clients within quality, time, and budgetary constraints. In addition to managing projects, responsibilities include supervising, training, and mentoring construction PMs and Assistant Project Managers (APMs) to prepare and update project management systems and reports; develop and update emails, letters, and other communications; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and manage the construction process to meet contractual requirements in the most efficient and cost-effective means possible. Construction PMs and APMs prepare and update schedules; develop and monitor budgets; and review, draft, negotiate, and manage contracts and subcontracts. The Senior Construction Project Manager reports to the Director of Operations (DO).
Duties:
Supervise Construction PMs and APMs, with tasks that include: Assign awarded construction projects to PMs and APMs to manage workload Direct, guide, mentor, train, and discipline PMs and APMs as needed Conduct performance assessments on assigned personnel at least annually and provide feedback and recommendations to the DO for potential salary increases, bonuses, role changes, and / or other personnel actions Review Construction PM and APM expenses for appropriate coding and reimbursement Review and process time off requests for assigned personnel, ensuring adequate staffing is available at all times, and that alternate POCs are available for absences longer than two (2) days Support PMs and APMs as the first point of escalation for client and vendor questions Identify product and process gaps, vehicle needs, special tool or equipment needs, and other potential improvements to the DO for funds consideration Utilize Procore, US Army Corps of Engineers Record Management System (RMS), and similar project management software systems to input, manage, and track project data Develop, maintain, and distribute standardized reports, tools, and processes to maximize efficiencies for office and field personnel Review and process change orders, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other expenses above established thresholds in comparison with approved budgets Coordinate with the General Superintendent to request and assign field personnel as needed to meet project requirements Conduct recurring coordination with PMs / APMs, the General Superintendent, and other personnel as needed to update PSP leadership on construction progress and support needed at each site Develop and review pre-construction submittals for client review / approval, including material submittals, quality control, safety, risk management, and design quality control plans Prepare, submit, and update project data, reports, and submittals to meet contractual requirements and client / leadership expectations, following up as needed Identify material and equipment requirements for project execution and coordinate delivery when needed to meet timelines Prepare project budgets with schedules of values. Develop, coordinate, and submit draft and final invoices for payment per contract requirements Participate in, and / or assist with the conduct of pre-bid site visits, site investigations, kick-off meetings, and pre-construction meetings as required
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, or a related field is preferred Five years' experience as a construction project manager or in a similar position in construction management is required Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate employees, teams, and subcontractors to accomplish project goals a must. Three years' experience as a supervisor is desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications is required, while experience with Microsoft Project, Procore, Viewpoint and other construction management software is highly beneficial. In-depth understanding of the construction industry with knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations is desired Experience working with federal Government contracts is preferred Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at a computer workstation for several hours at a time.
Additional Information:
Duties are performed primarily in PSP's Brentwood, TN office. Occasional travel to vendor locations, work sites, and off-site meeting locations in the United States with all related expenses paid for by the company.
