Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead commercial and civil sitework projects, including grading, earthwork, water, and utilities. The Superintendent will oversee day-to-day field operations, ensure schedules and budgets are met, maintain high safety and quality standards, and coordinate with project management, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to deliver projects on time and within specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage on-site construction activities for commercial and civil sitework projects including grading, earthwork, utility installation, and site development. Supervise, schedule, and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and onsite crews to ensure efficient progress and adherence to project timelines. Implement and enforce safety programs and OSHA standards; conduct daily safety meetings and ensure corrective actions for hazards. Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and permits; ensure work is completed to plan and in compliance with codes and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients to resolve issues, provide updates, and adjust plans as needed. Monitor quality control; perform inspections, document deficiencies, and direct remediation to meet contractual standards. Manage material deliveries, equipment usage, and site logistics to optimize productivity and control costs. Prepare and maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, time sheets, change order documentation, and as-built records. Identify risks and propose corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget; assist in claims avoidance and resolution. Mentor and develop field staff, promote teamwork, and maintain a professional, productive jobsite culture.
Qualifications:
5+ years of superintendent-level experience in commercial and civil sitework, including grading and earthwork. Proven experience with water and utilities installation, site utilities coordination, and related civil construction activities. Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, and safety regulations (OSHA). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, permits, and geotechnical reports. Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; able to coordinate multiple stakeholders and subcontractors. Proficient with construction management tools and Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, or equivalent) preferred.
