COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
$80,000•100,000 annually, based on experience Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM•5:00 PM Full-Time Exempt (FLSA)ROLE IMPACTThe Building Official supports the administration and operational oversight of the Compliance Department, including permitting, inspections, and code enforcement. This role ensures municipal codes, zoning regulations, and construction standards are consistently enforced while delivering efficient, compliant, and customer-focused permitting and inspection services. Success is measured by regulatory consistency, operational efficiency, and safe community development.

Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations related to permitting, inspections, plan review, and code compliance to ensure efficiency and regulatory adherence. Interpret and enforce applicable building codes, zoning regulations, municipal ordinances, and construction standards; review permits, construction plans, inspection reports, and technical documents. Coordinate residential, commercial, and multi-family inspection and compliance activities with contractors, developers, consultants, external agencies, and internal departments. Supervise assigned staff, including work assignment, training, performance monitoring, employee development, and promoting accountability and customer service. Support departmental administration including operational reporting, workflow improvements, permitting software systems, records management, and budgeting support.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in Construction Management, Public Administration, Building Inspection Technology, Business Administration, or closely related field. Three (3) years of experience in building inspections, permitting, construction management, code enforcement, or building code compliance, including one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience. ICC Combination Inspector Certification (or equivalent ICC discipline certifications), Texas Plumbing Inspector's License, and valid Texas driver's license.

The employee may occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Responsibilities may include travel between facilities, inspections, project sites, meetings, training sessions, public events, and emergency response activities. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction areas, traffic conditions, and moderate noise levels may occur. Employees may be required to respond during emergencies, severe weather events, or operational incidents outside normal business hours.
