Job Title:
SuperintendentJob Description This role oversees electrical and fire alarm retrofit projects within an AWS site, with some programs including mechanical scopes. The superintendent develops and executes cost-effective project plans, coordinates field activities, and ensures all work meets quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position follows a 40-hour workweek, typically starting at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., and is expected to support an initial 6-8 month workload with potential for additional projects. Responsibilities + Develop a detailed schedule and cost-effective plan to complete assigned projects on time and within budget. + Collaborate with internal teams to prepare preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor. + Coordinate and schedule the daily work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating instructions and assignments through the project foreperson as appropriate. + Oversee all electrical and fire alarm replacement activities, ensuring proper execution of retrofit scopes and integration with any mechanical work. + Regularly inspect work for quality, compliance, and timeliness, and provide clear progress reports to project stakeholders such as owners and architects. + Make recommendations for modifications to plans, schedules, or methods when needed to improve quality, efficiency, or cost control. + Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, attorneys, and other stakeholders to ensure all specifications, zoning requirements, and applicable regulations are met. + Ensure the project team follows specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans, particularly for electrical, low voltage, and mechanical systems. + Obtain all required permits and licenses and execute construction contracts in accordance with agreed terms and conditions. + Monitor project budgets throughout the lifecycle of the project and promptly communicate any variances or cost issues. + Maintain accurate records related to project costs, inventory, and other key documentation. + Identify, address, and correct any safety violations or other deficiencies on the job site. + Collaborate with union representatives as needed to answer questions and clarify procedures and expectations. + Use Procore or similar project management software to manage documentation, schedules, subcontractors, and field activities. + Manage vendors and subcontractors, including schedule coordination, performance oversight, and resolution of issues in the field. + Perform other related duties as assigned to support successful project delivery. Essential Skills + Minimum of 5 years of experience working on data center construction or industrial projects. + Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems on large projects such as industrial, manufacturing, or data center facilities. + Hands-on experience managing retrofit projects involving electrical and fire alarm replacements. + Proficiency with Procore for project management, documentation, and coordination. + Proven experience with schedule management, including creating, updating, and maintaining construction schedules. + Demonstrated experience managing vendors and subcontractors, including coordination and performance oversight. + Strong technical acumen in electrical, low voltage, and mechanical scopes. + Ability to interpret and apply architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements. + Solid understanding of construction safety practices and the ability to identify and address safety issues on site. + Strong communication skills for coordinating with forepersons, trades, stakeholders, and union representatives. + Ability to monitor and control project budgets and maintain accurate cost and inventory records. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in data center or industrial environments with complex electrical and low voltage systems. + Background in construction management, including coordination of multi-discipline retrofit projects. + Familiarity with fire alarm systems and their integration with electrical and mechanical scopes. + Experience working within union environments and collaborating with union representatives. + Ability to prepare clear progress reports and present project status to owners, architects, and other stakeholders. + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend modifications to improve quality, schedule, or cost performance. Work Environment This role operates on a 40-hour workweek with typical start times at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., supporting an initial 6-8 month workload with the expectation of additional projects to follow. Work takes place on an AWS site focused on retrofit activities, including electrical and fire alarm replacements and some mechanical scopes. The superintendent works closely with field teams, subcontractors, and professional staff in an active construction environment, using tools such as Procore to manage schedules, documentation, and coordination. The position requires regular on-site presence, frequent inspections of work areas, and adherence to established safety procedures in an industrial or data center setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
