This position is responsible for managing multiple active projects, coordinating subcontract labor, ensuring quality installation, maintaining project documentation, and representing Texas Welding Company in the field. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, solves problems proactively, and takes ownership of jobsite success. This is a traveling position that routinely requires driving throughout Central Texas, visiting multiple jobsites, vendors, suppliers, general contractor offices, and company facilities in a single day. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working independently, and maintaining a high level of accountability. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Project Execution Lead and coordinate subcontract labor on active projects. Manage daily field operations on multiple projects simultaneously. Coordinate project activities with the Project Manager and Field Superintendent. Develop daily and weekly work plans to ensure projects remain on schedule. Maintain accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism on all assigned projects. Identify and resolve field issues before they impact project schedules or customer relationships. Professionally represent Texas Welding Company with clients, general contractors, inspectors, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Communicate project progress, challenges, manpower needs, material shortages, and schedule concerns to management daily. Safety Management Promote and enforce a safety-first culture on every project. Ensure all personnel comply with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project-specific safety standards. Conduct and document safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses as required. Stop unsafe work immediately and take corrective action when necessary. Investigate and report safety incidents, near misses, and jobsite concerns. Quality Control Verify that all work is installed according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Inspect field work to ensure compliance with company quality standards. Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions. Maintain punch lists and track completion of corrective work. Recognize acceptable and unacceptable weld quality in accordance with project requirements and AWS standards. Layout & Field Verification Read and interpret structural steel drawings, erection plans, shop drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Perform field measurements and verify dimensions before fabrication or installation activities begin. Verify elevations, anchor bolt locations, embed locations, and field conditions. Utilize laser levels, transits, measuring equipment, and layout tools accurately. Identify drawing conflicts and communicate discrepancies before they affect production or installation. Documentation & Record Keeping Complete daily reports documenting manpower, progress, delays, safety observations, and project milestones. Maintain organized jobsite records, photographs, inspections, and project documentation. Verify and approve field labor hours for accuracy. Track project progress and communicate schedule impacts promptly. Maintain accurate inventories of assigned tools, equipment, consumables, and safety equipment. Equipment & Asset Management Ensure assigned tools, equipment, vehicles, and layout instruments are maintained and operational. Coordinate equipment needs with company management. Report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipment immediately. Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of construction leadership experience. Proven experience managing crews, subcontractors, or field operations. Strong understanding of commercial construction processes. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong measuring, layout, elevation, and field verification skills. Experience using laser levels, transits, and construction layout equipment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel throughout Central Texas daily. Willingness to stay overnight when required by project demands. Preferred Qualifications Structural steel construction experience. Experience coordinating subcontract labor. Experience with daily reporting, project documentation, and construction software. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam, and mobile construction applications. Work Environment Commercial and industrial construction sites. Frequent travel throughout Central Texas. Combination of field leadership, project coordination, quality control, safety management, and customer interaction. Typical work week of approximately 50 hours. May oversee multiple active projects simultaneously. Success in This Role The successful candidate is a leader first.
