Job Description

Job Description for Construction Site-Lead The Construction Site Lead plays a key role in maximizing Bennington County Habitat for Humanity's impact by helping build safe, decent, and affordable homes for local families. This position supports the Construction Manager in implementing high‑quality construction plans, maintaining project momentum, and ensuring a positive and meaningful experience for volunteers and homeowner partners. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour‑per‑week position ( Wednesday-Saturday ) reporting to the Construction Manager. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily construction activities in compliance with all State and Federal building codes, Habitat plans and specifications, budgeted resources, and quality and environmental requirements. Provide on-site leadership for all construction activities, including coordination of paid subcontractors. Prepare a daily work plan and ensure all necessary materials are on-site for the expected volunteers, plus capacity to accommodate two additional "drop-in" volunteers. Treat homeowner partners with respect and dignity, ensuring their participation is meaningful and aligned with Habitat's ministry values. Foster a positive volunteer experience by offering clear direction, encouragement, and a welcoming environment. Become a trained Habitat for Humanity International (HfHI) competent safety person and consistently promote safe work practices. Train crew leaders and new volunteers, or delegate to qualified leaders as appropriate. Communicate with the Construction Manager regarding project progress and adherence to the construction schedule. Participate as an active team member and assist with hands-on construction tasks when needed. Capture and submit daily site photos. Track and submit volunteer hours daily to the office. Requirements Construction & Technical Skills Knowledge and experience in residential construction. Ability to read and follow construction plans and specifications. Leadership & Interpersonal Skills Strong communication and listening skills. Ability to lead, motivate, and train volunteers with varying skill levels. Commitment to Habitat's mission, values, and ministry‑based approach. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in a variety of physical positions. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Other Requirements Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check. Must have a valid driver's license.
Compensation:
$25-$27 per hour depending on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience. Nine paid holidays, paid vacation, personal time off, health insurance, retirement plan with employer contribution.
