H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) seeks a Construction Manager to join the Tank Farm Projects (TFP) organization. The Construction Manager will apply an extensive and diversified knowledge of Construction Management principles and practices in assignments and related work. The specific duties of the Construction Manager will include but are not limited to the following: Act as a fully competent construction manager in all conventional aspects of managing small to medium, non-stand-alone Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), capital improvement or facility/infrastructure upgrade projects from initiation through closeout in accordance with quality standards and requirements. Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Manage fixed prices, time, and material contracts with a variety of subcontractors in multiple H2C facilities. Interface with other H2C organizations (ESH&Q, Procurement, Engineering, Operations) in the preparation, issuance, and performance of construction contracts for H2C. Perform routine field walk downs of constructions sites and interface with subcontractor management. Manage the pre-construction activities and ensure coordination with deployed and matrix resources. Define the construction project objectives, background and expectations required for Constructability Review. Ensure that facility/site conditions effecting or potentially impacting risk the construction work are defined for the construction planning. May lead Constructability Review Meeting for assigned construction project/tasks and define gaps and major risk areas. Support Procurement Specialist with pre-bid questions, answers, and request for proposal (RFP) addendum. Partake in resolving contract issues with Procurement Specialist prior to the awarding of contracts. Notify the Task Project Manager and Manager of Construction if unforeseen issues potentially impact the construction planning or project baseline. Participate in the technical proposal review team. Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the department in conferences to resolve important questions and coordinate work. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to facilitate project milestones. Must take prompt action to accomplish assigned objectives and understand/identify issues and opportunities. Demonstrate interpolative thinking, utilizes advanced techniques, modifications, or extensions to practiced theories, and is generally seasoned technically. Comply with H2C policies and procedures. Ensure ISMS Principles are incorporated into organization's activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Grade 21: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering, or related field; and Ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 22: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering, or related field; and Twelve (12) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Desired Qualifications • Experience in Department of Energy nuclear facility. Experience with removal/demolition of existing equipment prior to installation of new electrical and mechanical systems on a construction project. Past experience managing construction personnel or construction projects. Knowledge in the development and process of construction contracts. Past experience with high-risk radiological work. Compensation & Benefits In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
