The Superintendent is the primary field contact for subcontractors, vendors, and quality control personnel, and works closely with the Project Manager and government representatives to coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all on-site construction activities and ensure work is executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and federal agency standards (USACE, NAVFAC, VA, etc.). Maintain daily site operations and enforce site safety, cleanliness, and compliance with OSHA and
EM 385-1-1
standards. Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, field staff, and material deliveries to ensure efficient workflow and minimize project delays. Participate in daily meetings and planning sessions with project teams, subcontractors, and government representatives. Work closely with the Quality Control Manager to support inspections, testing, and documentation for the Three Phases of Control. Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily reports, labor and equipment logs, safety meetings, and field photos. Monitor and enforce job site safety, including conducting daily safety briefings and ensuring corrective actions are taken for any deficiencies. Identify and mitigate risks, delays, and potential conflicts through proactive planning and communication. Manage project schedule updates and assist with sequencing of trades to keep construction activities on track. Ensure all field changes are documented and communicated to the Project Manager for change management and contract compliance.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of construction supervision experience, preferably on federal, military, or government-funded projects.
Certifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification•Required
USACE/NAVFAC
Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) Certification•Preferred First Aid/CPR Certification•Preferred In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, federal contract specifications, and safety regulations (EM 385-1-1). Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage teams and subcontractors. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, schedules, and technical specifications. Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project) is a plus.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience working on military bases or other secure government sites. Proven ability to deliver high-quality projects under strict deadlines. Ability to build strong working relationships with clients, field staff, and agency representatives. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, depending on the workforce.
Pay:
$150,000.00•$155,000.00 per year
