This position serves as the primary leader for reconstruction operations, managing field personnel, subcontractors, project schedules, quality control, customer communication, and project profitability. The Superintendent / Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards, building codes, and customer expectations. This role acts as the bridge between customers, insurance carriers, subcontractors, field crews, and company leadership to deliver exceptional project outcomes and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Management Manage reconstruction projects from authorization through final completion. Review estimates, scopes of work, contracts, and project documentation prior to project commencement. Develop project schedules and coordinate all phases of reconstruction activities. Monitor project progress and proactively address delays, scope changes, and production challenges. Conduct project planning meetings with customers, subcontractors, and internal team members. Ensure all projects comply with company standards, local building codes, and industry best practices. Maintain complete and accurate project files, notes, photographs, and documentation. Production & Field Operations Supervise reconstruction crews and subcontractors performing project work. Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources. Ensure proper sequencing of trades to maximize efficiency and minimize delays. Perform regular jobsite inspections to verify quality workmanship and safety compliance. Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedules or budgets. Verify all work is completed according to approved scopes and customer expectations. Conduct final project walkthroughs and quality inspections. Customer Service & Communication Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout reconstruction projects. Provide regular project updates regarding schedule, progress, and next steps. Address customer concerns promptly and professionally. Manage customer expectations regarding project timelines, material availability, and unforeseen conditions. Build and maintain strong relationships with homeowners, property managers, commercial clients, and insurance representatives. Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the reconstruction process. Subcontractor Management Schedule, coordinate, and supervise subcontractor activities. Ensure subcontractors comply with company standards, safety requirements, and project schedules. Review subcontractor performance and workmanship. Approve completed work prior to payment processing. Develop and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors and vendors. Resolve subcontractor conflicts and performance issues as needed. Financial Management Manage project budgets and monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle. Review labor, material, and subcontractor expenses for accuracy. Identify and communicate change orders, supplements, and scope modifications. Ensure all approved change orders are documented and signed prior to performing additional work whenever possible. Track project profitability and gross margin performance. Review invoices and ensure billing documentation is complete and accurate. Ensure final invoices are submitted within 48-72 hours of project completion. Scheduling & Resource Management Develop and maintain accurate project schedules. Coordinate workforce allocation based on project demands. Forecast labor and subcontractor requirements. Monitor project milestones and completion targets. Communicate scheduling changes to customers, crews, subcontractors, and management. Minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency. Safety & Compliance Promote a culture of safety and accountability. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections. Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses. Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain required permits, inspections, and compliance documentation. Quality Control Ensure all work meets company quality standards and industry best practices. Conduct routine quality inspections throughout project execution. Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions. Verify completion of punch-list items prior to project closeout. Maintain high levels of workmanship and customer satisfaction. Performance Metrics Success in this position is measured by: Project completion timelines Customer satisfaction scores Gross profit performance Budget adherence Change order capture rate Safety performance Subcontractor performance Quality control results Reduction of project callbacks Timely project billing and collections support Qualifications Minimum 5 years of construction, restoration, or reconstruction management experience. Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction practices. Experience managing subcontractors and field personnel. Ability to read construction plans, estimates, and scopes of work. Knowledge of insurance restoration processes preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with project management software, Xactimate, Microsoft Office, and restoration management systems. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
