Hiring Range:
$29.06-$38.93 Starting salary may be adjusted depending on experience.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Current recognized certification as a Master Plumber and Gas Fitter; Five (5) years or more of experience as a Plumbing, Gas Fitter or HVAC Installer; Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit; Possession of a Mechanical or Plumbing certification from the International Code Council or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Plumbing experience in both residential and commercial.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for conducting inspections of mechanical, gas and plumbing installations, both residential and commercial; Enforcing codes and ordinances to ensure compliance and safety; Interpreting codes and ordinances for construction professionals and the general public to clarify information; Maintaining inspection records by filing, researching, and documenting records; Reviewing plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances; Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development and awareness of developments in the fields; Knowledge of relevant practices, laws, rules, policies, and/or guidelines; Conducting inspections related to life safety, accessibility, and natural disasters to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances; Issues notices of violations where unsafe or non-code compliant conditions exist and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure corrections are made; Performs related work as required.
