$75,417 - $113,125 annually

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Urban Planning or a related field, ICC Certified Building Official and (10) years building inspection and construction experience, including three (3) years supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License. Must successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and coordinates City building inspection activities; oversees code enforcement and ensures compliance with all building/zoning codes, standards, and safety regulations. Reviews building construction plans. Evaluates building permit applications and approves building permits. Responds to public inquiries regarding building and zoning related matters. Provides information to and responds to inquiries from developers regarding building inspection processes, building/zoning codes, and other related matters. Develops effective relationships with developers to facilitate development activities. Conducts building inspections; issues notices of violation and/or stop work orders. Issues and/or revokes certificates of occupancy. Maintains departmental records including applications and fees received, permits and certificates issued, inspection reports, and notices/orders issued. Grants variances to building codes as required. Hires, trains, supervises and monitors the performance of assigned personnel. Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
