Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Two-year Associate degree or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum of three years related experience. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.
Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements:
Valid AZ Driver's License upon hire. Certifications in two of the following: Building Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, or Electrical Inspector upon hire. ICC Building Plan Review certification upon hire.

(s) Experience in a municipal or government setting. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Tell me more…. The City of Peoria is seeking an experienced leader to oversee the Building Development Division's plan review team and help guide residential and commercial development projects throughout the City. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects move efficiently through the review and permitting process while maintaining compliance with building codes and City standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing and supervising Building Development Division plan review staff, including assigning work, setting priorities, and supporting professional development. Overseeing the review and coordination of residential and commercial development plans through preliminary and final stages of development. Serving as a technical expert and trusted advisor on building codes, development processes, and construction-related issues. Collaborating with internal departments, outside agencies, developers, and consultants to facilitate timely project reviews and approvals. Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing change, and enhancing customer service delivery. Assisting with division budgeting, resource management, and strategic planning efforts. Coordinating with field inspection staff to resolve construction and code compliance issues. Serving as a liaison between the City, development community, neighborhood groups, and governmental agencies.
