• Job Description
• We are seeking an experienced
• Public Works Inspector
• to support
• highway, bridge, and rail transportation projects
• in Orange, CA or Los Angeles, CA on a
• part-time or on-call basis
• . The inspector will monitor construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with
• project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable public works standards
• . This role requires field experience inspecting transportation infrastructure projects and the ability to document contractor work, identify issues, and coordinate with project engineers and contractors to maintain quality and compliance.
• Key Responsibilities
• + Perform field inspections of
• highway, bridge, and/or rail construction activities
• to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements. + Observe and document contractor work including
• grading, concrete placement, structural components, drainage, utilities, track work, and related infrastructure
• . + Monitor construction materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with
• project specifications and applicable standards
• . + Prepare
• daily inspection reports
• , field notes, and photographic documentation of construction progress.

+ Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and project managers to resolve field issues. + Verify quantities of installed work and assist with documentation for progress payments if required. + Identify potential safety concerns or non-conforming work and report findings to project management. + Attend project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders as needed.

• Qualifications
• Required Qualifications
• + HS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. + MVR check required.
• Preferred Qualifications
• + 8+ years of experience inspecting
• public works construction projects
• , preferably in
• highway, bridge, or rail infrastructure
• . + Working knowledge of
• construction plans, specifications, and inspection procedures
• for transportation projects. + Experience preparing
• daily reports and field documentation
• . + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. + Strong attention to detail and communication skills. + Ability to travel to project sites and work outdoors in varying field conditions. + Experience with
• Caltrans Standard Specifications and Standard Plans
• . + Experience working in an active railroad environment. + PE License in State of California. + Experience with
• rail or transit infrastructure projects
• . + Familiarity with
• construction management or inspection software
• used for field reporting.
• Additional Information
• Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $60 to $72.
