Public Works Contractor Position Summary Corcus Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to support the successful delivery of public works construction projects throughout California. Our projects include mechanical systems, sewer and storm drain infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment facilities, grading, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and related civil construction work . The Field Engineer serves as a critical link between project management, field operations, subcontractors, and project owners. This role is responsible for project documentation, quantity tracking, scheduling support, quality control, surveying coordination, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project operations. Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents. Coordinate and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders. Perform quantity takeoffs and track production quantities. Assist with project scheduling and short-term work planning. Coordinate with survey crews and verify layout accuracy. Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications. Maintain accurate daily reports, field logs, and project documentation. Support utility installation activities including sewer, water, storm drain, and mechanical systems. Assist with inspection coordination and regulatory compliance. Track materials, equipment, and subcontractor performance. Participate in project meetings with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors. Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures. Support project closeout activities, including as-built drawings and final documentation. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 0-5 years of experience in heavy civil, utility, public works, or infrastructure construction. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and surveying principles. Experience with public works projects is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, Procore, or similar construction software is a plus. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following: Sewer collection systems Water distribution systems Wastewater treatment plants Water treatment facilities Mechanical piping and equipment installation Grading and earthwork Asphalt paving Underground utility construction Public agency projects Physical Requirements Ability to walk construction sites on uneven terrain. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, enter trenches, and navigate active construction sites safely.
