Job Description
About This Role:
The Electrical Quality Inspector serves as the primary visual and physical gatekeeper for electrical components within the Modular Data Center (Spark) and Power Distribution Center (PDC) lines. This role focuses on the high-level integrity of electrical installations—ensuring that incoming hardware meets physical specifications and that finished units are visually compliant, properly labeled, and secured for transit. By bridging the gap between raw material receipt and final deployment, this individual ensures that the foundational electrical build meets the facility's rigorous mechanical-electrical standards. What You'll Be Working On:
Inbound Visual Inspection:
Perform physical audits of incoming electrical commodities, including conduit, cable trays, copper busbars, enclosures, and bulk wiring, ensuring no shipping damage or dimensional deviations exist.Build Compliance Audit:
Conduct visual "workmanship" inspections of electrical installations, verifying that conduit runs are level, supports are spaced correctly, and cable entries are properly deburred and grommeted.Labeling & Identification:
Verify that all external and internal labeling (nameplates, warning signs, and circuit IDs) is accurate, legible, and applied according to the project's specific "Spark" or "PDC" engineering submittals.Physical Integrity Checks:
Perform "tug tests" and torque audits on non-energized connections to ensure mechanical fasteners and electrical lugs are seated to specified values before the unit moves to functional testing.Shipping Readiness & Protection:
Confirm that all sensitive electrical ports are capped, external penetrations are weather-sealed, and internal components are braced to withstand G-forces during road or sea transport.Documentation & Traceability:
Maintain inspection logs and photo documentation of the "as-shipped" electrical state, ensuring that all loose-ship electrical components (breakers, jumpers, etc.) are inventoried and packed.Non-Conformance Reporting:
Identify and document physical electrical defects (e.g., cracked insulators, dented switchgear, or incorrect wire gauges); collaborate with the specialized Electrical QC team to determine impact.Cross-Departmental Hand-off:
Coordinate closely with the specialized Electrical Testing Department to ensure units are physically prepared and safe for energized functional testing. What You'll Bring to theTeam:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; Technical training in electrical assembly or industrial maintenance is preferred.Experience:
2+ years of experience in electrical assembly or inspection within an industrial manufacturing environment. Journeyman preferred.Technical Expertise:
Ability to read and interpret electrical BOMs (Bills of Materials), general arrangement drawings, and basic wiring diagrams.System Knowledge:
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and the ability to use digital tablets or ERP software for logging inspection results.Soft Skills:
A "keen eye" for detail and the ability to identify subtle workmanship issues that could lead to long-term reliability problems.Operational Attributes:
Ability to work inside tight enclosure spaces and perform inspections at various heights within the modular units.Safety and Compliance:
This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required. Must be able to pass a background check.Bonus Points:
Experience with NEMA enclosure ratings and ingress protection (IP) sealing standards. Familiarity with 5S or Lean manufacturing environments. Previous experience in a "Shipping/Receiving" role specifically for heavy industrial electrical equipment.Benefits:
