This will include presenting fiber optic construction projects to ensure that the construction of our client's Fiber Optic Outside Plant, both aerial and underground, to include fiber, conduit, field electronics, and splicing and enclosures are being constructed to meet or exceed established standards. The FE will inspect the product of construction crews and will coordinate the remediation of any issues which prevent our clients from accepting the constructed plant. The FE may be called upon to create, review, and approve detailed field records of the installed infrastructure. The FE will also consider the impact on construction, installation, and future maintenance in developing when assessing the fiber infrastructure. Focused on the post-construction aspects of infrastructure, the FE must possess a comprehensive understanding of fiber design to effectively support engineering and construction efforts to ensure projects are planned and executed with safety, by the deadlines, within budget, and with the quality expected by our clients. Responsibilities:
  • Address outside plant construction issues by assessing, planning, and developing proposals to solve those issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Uphold client standards for construction of outside plant to include aerial plant, underground plant, splicing efforts, field equipment installations and processes related to the installation, removal, of plant.
  • Communicate with municipality/agencies of jurisdiction, customers, and residents of communities our clients operate within related to construction work in progress.
  • Ensure that documentation (i.e., takes pictures, hand-notes, sketches) of job sites, pole conditions and other relevant structures or landmarks to help illustrate and demonstrate the quality of design and construction services provided by contractors to the client is accurate, complete and timely.
  • As part of the IFC process, review permits and ROW documentation and ensure work is being conducted safely and according to the permitted design and instruction. Inclusive of hand drawn sketches of recommended engineering design while in the field.
  • Effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct new substructure site surveys and site walks.
  • Observe safety standards while on job sites and help promote site safety and may help conduct job site safety assessments from time to time.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of demonstrated construction or OSP site management experience
  • Strong knowledge of underground utilities
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications)
  • Understanding of client and company work specifications
  • Ability to read comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures
  • Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded
  • Maintain valid Driver's License and clean driving record. Commercial driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
  • Knowledge of underground pot is preferred
  • Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded
  • English and Spanish language preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must complete and pass a pre‐employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass background and pre-employment physical
  • Must be able to work long hours and weekends if needed.
  • Ability to travel as required.
Work Location Primary work location will be Cheyenne, WY, but will be variable based on projects. All work locations will be on-site and will vary based on the location and duration of each project. If hired, candidates can expect worksite locations to change regularly. Candidates that are available to travel could be asked to travel to multiple sites as needed.
