Job Description:
The New Castle Building Department is seeking a customer focused Building & Zoning Inspector to assist with administration and enforcement of Town building and zoning codes. Duties include plan reviews, field inspections, permit administration, code compliance, and coordination with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and the public. The position also assists with future land use planning, department budgeting, records management, and code updates. Candidates should possess knowledge of construction practices and ICC building codes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in both office and field environments. Experience in residential or commercial construction, inspections, or related fields required. ICC Building Inspector certification (IRC or IBC) must be obtained within six months of hire. Position is Monday-Friday with approximately 70% office and 30% field work.
Salary range:
