Job Description

Bratslavsky Consulting Engineers, Inc. , an engineering & construction management company is currently looking to acquire a Construction Inspector (CI) for an upcoming project in New London, CT. This is a contract position and will be responsible for the following: Monitor quality of construction activities, provide assurance that construction contractors are providing quality control. Inspect on-going construction, document problems, and recommend solutions, in professional manner. Perform constructability reviews of project and contract documents. Coordinate between fieldwork, affected organizations, and government. Work with local USCG staff to explain and inform on construction activities.

Friday Construction Inspector Duties:
Perform a variety of Inspection duties that broadly defined will include monitoring the effectiveness of construction contractor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs, or inspection of facilities for facility maintenance issues. Ensure construction is in accordance with plans and specifications. Make on-site inspections of construction project(s) and provide written reports. Perform reviews including, but not limited to, equipment and material submittals, progress charts, quality control (QC) and Safety Plans, and various work plans. Photograph the construction progress and logically file the records and transmit as required. Monitor the Contractor's Quality Control Program for compliance. Construction Inspector Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: Federal Project Experience (Required for All Candidates) Minimum of two (2) years of work experience on Federal Government construction projects as a government CI, contractor superintendent or quality control manager within the last 10 years. USCG projects are viewed more favorably. Able to demonstrate at least (2) years of project experience, as a government CI, contractor superintendent or quality control manager, in the construction of steam distribution systems, civil/site work, and utilities/mechanical room equipment installation. USCG projects are viewed more favorably. If the CI cannot meet the ten (10) year requirement, the CI can have a minimum of five (5) years' experience with a 4-year college degree in Engineering, PE, PMP, or QA/QC certifications attained within the last 10 years. Technical Knowledge Capable of reading contract drawings and specifications, have an understanding of local and national building codes and shall demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of building and construction trades. Demonstrate basic computer and software proficiency including the use of Procore and Construction Management scheduling software. Shall have effective written and verbal communication skills as well as an attention to detail. The capability of independent, self-disciplined performance and effectively be able to communicate findings and concerns to contractors and project managers. The capability of writing reports summarizing construction activities observed; documenting and tracking unforeseen conditions; and taking appropriate photos of construction progress. Physical Requirements Ability to see, hear, walk, drive, climb, reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
