Summary Technical work reviewing construction documents and plans to ensure compliance with City and State codes, ordinances, statutes, and regulations that govern building construction, alterations and repairs. Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities Conducts review of construction plans, plan revisions, architectural drawings, engineering drawings, electrical diagrams, equipment specifications, computations, and related documentation for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, good construction practices, and other requirements; processes documentation within designated timeframes and per established procedures. Identifies non-compliance issues and corrections required for plans to achieve compliance with codes; documents code articles of deficiencies found in EDEN, ensures necessary corrections are made to plans and meet compliance prior to issuance of permits. Reviews plans, performs field inspections as required for building construction and compliance with provisions of building codes Thoroughly submits drawings and documents to the test of the codes and corrects and stamps, as necessary; seeks input from supervisors when questions arise concerning the applicability of codes to specific construction documents or plans Examines plans and specifications of proposed construction and provides general and specific information regarding code requirements to contractors, architects, designers, engineers, homeowners, other departments and the general public Conducts field investigations to assist in plan application, interpretation or intent Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards; reviews new codes and changes to existing codes; maintains an awareness of new methods, materials, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends seminars, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate Confers with architects, builders, and fabricators on construction practices and related matters as they relate to construction plans and documents during the review phase Conducts work in accordance to established SOP's, policies and procedures Documents work thoroughly in the electronic file keeping system and, when applicable, on plans Prepares a variety of studies, reports and related information for decision making purposes Maintains positive working relationships within the Division, other City departments and various agencies to assist with the comprehensive plan review process Performs essential computer functions such as data entry, printing, retrieval, reports, etc. Reports for and conducts assigned duties during emergency related events. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Serves as a member of various City employee committees, as assigned. Assists with review of land development applications, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent, and Considerable experience in the construction industry, and Licensure by the State of Florida as a Plans Examiner per Florida Statute 468 or the ability to obtain a provisional license within the first three (3) months of employment, and Valid State of Florida Driver's license with a good driving record. Eligibility :
Coverage in the City's group insurance plans begins the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.

Non-probationary employees eligible for 60% of salary up to 26 weeks, provided at no cost.
Long Term Disability :
60% of salary up to $5,000 monthly, provided at no cost
Employee Assistance Program :
Six (6) visits per calendar year, per issue, provided at no cost.

Pension Plan :
Provided through the Florida Retirement System (FRS). Choice between the Investment Plan with a one (1) year vesting schedule, and the Pension Plan with an eight (8) year vesting schedule. Mandatory 3% pre-tax contribution.
Holidays :
Eleven (11) days per calendar year. One (1) Floating Holiday per calendar year.
Personal Leave:
Sixteen (16) hours accrued monthly used for vacation, illness, or personal time away from work . Personal Leave is tiered based on years of service and increases overtime.
