JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, enforces City codes and ordinances concerning zoning, property maintenance, health and safety, and nuisance violations, while providing information and assistance to residents, businesses, and City departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process and respond to residents and department complaints/ inquires (phone, email, in-person) Provide customer service and assist with case management for code enforcement Patrol City areas and issue warnings and tickets for ordinance violations Appear in court and provide testimony as needed Manage caseloads, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines Conduct permit audits (sale permits, general permits) Coordinate derelict car program and vacant house audits Maintain positive public relations with residents and staff Ensure confidentiality of City information Perform additional duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, city ordinances, and safety regulations Ability to conduct detailed inspections of residential and municipal properties and identify code violations and safety concerns Ability to accurately document inspection findings, prepare written reports, and maintain detailed records of violations and corrective actions Ability to interpret and enforce applicable building codes, ordinances, and regulations to ensure compliance with City standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasional walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) Ability to work in various weather conditions Requires close vision and focus adjustment
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Minimum of one (1) year of experience or demonstrated knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, city ordinances and safety regulations Ability to obtain the Internation Code Council (ICC) certification(s) within 1 year time frame
SALARY RANGE
40,000-42,000 annually
