Non-Exempt Position Summary The Telecom Inspector I supports Outside Plant (OSP) fiber construction projects by assisting with field inspections and performing duties to support field personnel. This role helps ensure construction activities meet client specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations while contributing directly to crew productivity. It is an entry level position into telecom construction. Key Responsibilities Assist with monitoring fiber construction activities, including excavation, directional boring, handhole/vault placement, conduit installation, and aerial strand/fiber placement Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with client standards, prints, and permits Document daily production, including footage installed, materials used, and crew activity Capture photo documentation of key construction phases (before, during, after) Identify and report damages (e.g., utilities, property, restoration issues) or non-compliant work Learn to read OSP construction prints, splice diagrams, and utility locates Assist with verifying depths, clearances, and installation methods Assist field personnel with construction activities that may include digging, potholing, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration Assist with placement of conduit, handholes, pedestals, and fiber cable Load/unload materials such as conduit, reels, handholes, and tools Set up and maintain safe work zones, including signage and traffic control devices Operate basic hand and power tools; assist with locating and exposing utilities Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred 0-2 years of construction, telecom, or utility field experience Willingness to perform physically demanding outdoor work and learn telecom inspection processes Basic understanding of construction or utility work (preferred) Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction Good communication skills and ability to document basic field information Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment Valid driver's license with acceptable driving recordSimilar remote jobs
