GSG is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Construction Engineer (Inspector) to join our Construction Management group in the Chicago-land area. The ideal candidate will have previous roadway construction inspection experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and efficiently on their own. The Construction Inspector is responsible for the following: Duties Inspect and document contractor's work activities. Perform field inspections to ensure work compliance. Complete accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reporting. Read and interpret plans, specifications, and special provisions for construction projects. Verify that specified quality control tests are performed as needed, inspection test records are submitted in a timely manner, and corrective actions are implemented, if necessary, by the contractor. Verify construction layout according to the contract drawings and documents. Must be able to read and understand construction contract documents and be familiar with interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings. Perform tasks related to all field inspection and engineering on a construction project or multiple concurrent constructions sites. This involves a combination of office and work site visits. Prepare and submit daily progress reports. Inspect, observe, document, and verify work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Measure and verify contractor's quantities in accordance with contract documents, which shall be reflected in the Inspectors Daily Report (IDR). Perform and document traffic and erosion control reports. Qualifications 3+ years of experience working on construction projects as a field inspector. Tollway and/or IDOT experience is required. Certified in IDOT Documentation of Contracts Quantities, or able to obtain certification within 60 days of employment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e-Builder, and CMMS.
