Job Description
Job purpose The Construction/Right of Way will inspect telecommunications construction projects in the Midwest region. The Inspector ensures public infrastructure projects and utility work within the public right of way adhere to city, county or state codes. The Inspector will conduct field inspections, verify permit compliance, document daily progress, ensure safety and resolve contractor issues. Duties and responsibilities
- Examine prints and verify that crews installing meet proper requirements and specifications.
- Maintain detailed daily logs, photographs, and inspection findings and discuss findings with contractors and engineers to discuss corrective actions.
- Conduct onsite inspections of public improvements to ensure compliance with approved plans, engineering standards, and specifications.
- Verify right of way permits, utility locations and proper restoration of the right of way after construction.
- Prepare daily reports, take photos, measure quantities for pay estimates and maintain records of non-conformities.
- Coordinate with contractors, public/private utilities, and residents to address inquiries and complaints.
- Oversee concrete, soil, and material testing to ensure quality standards.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or public works
- Willing to travel throughout the Midwest (from job site to job site)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and safety practices
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy of information
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
- Must be familiar with working in a unionized labor environment
- Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and work independently or under executive direction
Physical Requirements:
o Working in outdoor environments with exposure to adverse weather conditions. o Frequent walking, climbing and standing on construction sites.Pay:
