Your impact As a construction site inspector, you will work on medium-to-large municipal construction projects. Typical projects will include heavy civil/ structural inspection on large complicated municipal infrastructure projects. As an Intermediate /Senior Site Inspector , based out of our Toronto office, you will be working as a Jacobs representative in the field, providing construction inspection services, contract administration for various municipal water and wastewater projects for municipalities in the GTA and surrounding area. Working with other members of the team, you'll coordinate and communicate with all parties on a project, including the engineering design team, Jacob's site team, client, contractors and other stake holder as required. You will ensure construction is in accordance with contract drawings and specifications; keep detailed, legible and adequate records of construction activities; prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports; keep activities tracking logs, photo records; and assist in preparation of change orders, payment certificates, schedule reviews. You will coordinate and facilitate with the engineering design team the review of shop drawing; requests for information (RFI); site instructions (SI), request for quotations (RFQ) as well as assist in resolving design/construction issues in the field. You will apply Jacobs and/ or client's standards for construction inspections and administration.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Knowledge of site inspection as well as project scheduling.
  • Good communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to read/ interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of heavy construction principles, materials and equipment, means and methods.
  • Have a keen eye to identify potential issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to think outside the box and work independently.
  • Understanding of administrative and project policies and procedures.
Advanced skills in construction QA/QC. Here's what you'll need 12+ years construction inspection experience is required; prior experience with municipal water and wastewater projects is required. Civil or Structural Eng. Technology or Technician Diploma or equivalent demonstrated experience Experience with on-site construction inspection with a focus on municipal water and wastewater projects. Demonstrated experience with municipal water and wastewater projects. Valid driver's license. Knowledge of construction practices and related regulatory and/or industry requirements and practices Foresight and balanced judgement in anticipating and solving problems during construction. Ability to assert high quality implementation of our designs in the field. Demonstrates strengths in respectful communication, and a love for working with people and getting things done Resourceful, independent and willing to go the extra mile to obtain new knowledge. Ability to effectively communicate with clients and contractors Ability to tolerate outdoors weather conditions in summer and winter. 5-10 yrs experience working in the GTA is strongly preferred. You are Jacobs' face to the client and public during construction, and as such you have demonstrated strengths in respectful communication, problem solving, and a love for working with people and getting things done. Upper 115,000.00 The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $115,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
