Overview Join our dynamic team as a Safety Inspector / Gas Leak Survey / Utilities Locator, where your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and integrity of utility infrastructure across construction sites and field environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, utilize specialized equipment, and contribute to safe project execution. You will be responsible for conducting thorough gas leak surveys, locating underground utilities, and supporting field service operations to prevent accidents and service disruptions. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help maintain safety standards and protect vital infrastructure. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive gas leak surveys using specialized detection equipment to identify potential hazards before construction or maintenance activities begin. Locate underground utilities such as gas lines, water pipes, electrical cables, and telecommunication lines with precision, utilizing land surveying tools and utility locating devices. Conduct site inspections on construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings to accurately identify utility locations and project layouts. Operate field equipment including backhoes, forklifts, and cabling tools safely and efficiently during utility installation or repair tasks. Document survey findings meticulously, creating detailed reports for project teams and safety compliance records. Collaborate with service technicians, construction crews, and project managers to coordinate safe excavation practices and utility protection measures. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or in field service roles within utilities or construction environments. Strong knowledge of land surveying techniques and utility locating methods. Experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans. Ability to operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, and cabling equipment safely. Familiarity with gas leak detection tools and safety procedures related to underground utilities. Prior work on construction sites or in utility installation projects is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
