Construction Observer

We are seeking an experienced Construction Observer to serve a varied client base in our Land Development Practice in South Portland, Maine. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Pay:

$30.40 - 39.00 an hour based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER FUNCTIONS

Perform basic inspection of construction activities, including site development and transportation projects.

Measurement and Documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications.

Computation of quantities and coordination with owner/contractorBasic field testingComplete daily or weekly inspection reportsProject plan review and document contractor compliancePrepare, communicate and coordinate construction close out documentsOther specific duties may include hot mix asphalt paving ticket takerMust be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make observations.

Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Other duties as assigned.

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferred.

Qualifications:

Daily travel to client locations is an essential function of this position. Must have the ability to travel between worksites independently.

Ability to maintain a reliable schedule and attend all required shifts.3+ years of fabrication, installation, and/or construction-related (inspection) experience required.

Understanding of construction trades and installation work.

Understanding of engineering, architectural and other construction drawings.

Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.

Ability to utilize available provided technology (field laptop, inspection equipment, etc.) and reporting programs.

Ability to work independently and in team settings.
