Job Description

Provides oversight and monitoring of safety related issues on SDA School Construction projects throughout the State of New Jersey. Investigates issues, when required, and conducts training for both field and office personnel. Provides guidance to staff and field personnel, writes reports and documents findings in several SDA databases. In general, acts as a consultant to the office and field staff within the areas of required expertise. Performs NJSDA owned property site inspections as assigned. Performs grant project inspections as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Acts as a liaison to the insurance department of the SDA, Project Managers, and Construction Management Firms. 2. Performs Safety inspections on construction sites. 3. Reviews and approves Site Safety Plans, safety related submittals and documents for each project. 4. Writes reports and submits to the appropriate recipients. Documents reports in DBo2 and Kahua Safety App. databases. 5. Conducts training for both SDA staff and field personnel 6. Travel from project to project is required. 7. Approximately 90% of the required work takes place in the field. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Excellent communication and relationship building skills. 2. Ability to follow oral or written directions, functions effectively under pressure, and adhere to strict deadlines. 3. Strong organization skills and detail oriented. 4. The ability to assess situations and take corrective action is essential. Required Education and Experience 1. Bachelors' degree or equivalent work experience required. 2. Minimum three to five years of experience in related construction field work. 3. Must have successfully completed 30 hours of certified OSHA Construction, Safety and Health training and be current in OSHA certification(s). 4. Other certification(s) in Safety related fields desired. Physical Demands Regular construction worksite visits that may require physical activities such as climbing ladders and walking significant distances, etc. Certificates and Licenses Required Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential from The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) preferred Valid driver's license If you are applying under the NJ SAME Program, your supporting documents (Schedule A or B letter) must be submitted along with your resume by the closing date indicated above.
