Under direct supervision of the Building Official, the Electrical Inspector will issue electrical permits, performs electrical inspections and other related duties. Inspects buildings during construction to ensure compliance with all adopted electrical codes and other applicable requirements and specifications. Assist and advise the general public and other City Officials in relation to electrical code requirements. Prepares written reports, issue correction notices, and inform the Building Official of hazards or illegal conditions that my exist. Performs various office and other duties assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Valid Driver's License (state of residence) that meets City's Insurability requirements.
- Minimum of five (5) years electrical foreman experience
- New Mexico Electrical Journeyman Certification or an EE98 New Mexico Electrical license
OTHER CONDITIONS
- Within three (3) month of hire must be able to pass the State of New Mexico Electrical Inspector exam.
- Within one (1) year of hire must be able to pass the ICC Residential Electrical Inspector Certification and the ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification.

- High Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Valid Driver's License (state of residence) that meets City's Insurability requirements.

STARTING PAY
$38.98 P/H The expected starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications of the successful candidate between $81,070 and $87,776 annually.A comprehensive benefits package including:

JOB DESCRIPTION
Incumbent is responsible for enforcing New Mexico Building Code, International Building Codes. Americans with Disabilities Act, City Land Development Standards, and other related building codes and zoning ordinance. Checks construction plans to ensure compliance by property owners., developers and contractor. Issues building permits. Inspects construction work to ensure compliance of structures.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Five (5) years foreman level experience in building/construction trades or construction management.
- Possession of State CID general inspector certification
- OR•must pass New Mexico CID General Inspector Exam with a 75% or better within 90days of hire • Possession of national ICC certification(s) as a construction inspector in both the International Building Code and International Residential Code•OR•must pass national ICC certification exams within one year of hire 75% or better • Valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited college or vocational school with an emphasis in building, planning, or closely related field
- Experience in construction supervisory level building trade or management
OTHER CONDITIONS
- Upon offer of employment, candidate will have 90 days in which to pass the required State Construction Industries Division (CID) General Construction Inspector Exam and obtain State CID certification as a General Construction Inspector.
