Job Description

Responsibilities Enforce the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations Review permit applications, plans, and supporting documentation Issue permits, notices of violation, and orders as needed Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation using existing software platform Respond to resident inquiries and provide guidance on code requirements Coordinate with Town and Village officials, departments, and external agencies Attend meetings as required Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Possession of an associate degree with specialization in civil engineering, construction technology or a related field; OR Satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours at an approved four-year college or university in a program leading to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction technology, or a related field; OR Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in building construction work or in a building trade such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical or related trades; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
Special Note:
Experience as a qualified building inspector may be substituted for required experience Current Code Enforcement Officer certification from the New York State Department of State may substitute for experience Certification is required or must be obtained within a reasonable timeframe after appointment
Compensation Salary Range:
$50,000 - $56,000 based on experience and qualifications
