Job Title:
Inspection Technicians Job Description We are seeking reliable and professional Inspection Technicians to join our team. This entry-level position involves conducting facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters, ensuring public safety, and preventing future gas leaks or explosions. The role requires extensive travel within the utility territory and the ability to work independently. Responsibilities Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters for corrosion and/or damage. Complete all necessary documentation and document inspection findings in compliance with regulatory requirements. Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections. Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys. Perform audit reviews with operations and support them during audits. Essential Skills Valid driver's license and vehicle. Professional demeanor and good communication skills. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills. Ability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders during an 8-hour workday in all weather conditions. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ year of driving experience. Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude. Experience interfacing with technical services, government agencies, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a 100% field-based position requiring flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. Technicians are expected to be self-sufficient and will be provided with necessary equipment, including a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, and safety gear. Training includes OSHA orientation and certification testing, with a probationary period to assess competency. Standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with potential shifts on Saturdays at the supervisor's request. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
