We are seeking a Civil Construction Engineering Inspector to join our growing team in the Northeast Ohio area . This is an opening offering competitive pay , excellent benefits, and the chance to work on civil construction projects that improve transportation networks and public safety. As part of our team, you will report directly to the Construction Engineer and be responsible for on-site quality assurance and inspection to ensure that work complies with all applicable specifications, standards, and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and construction documents. Conduct full-time construction inspection and quality assurance on roadway and bridge projects . Perform construction material testing including concrete. Identify deficient work and coordinate with contractors for corrective actions. Prepare detailed daily reports and maintain accurate documentation. Take measurements and photographs to support quality tracking. Attend and assist with construction meetings as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Self-motivated and capable of logical problem-solving in the field. Strong comprehension of construction drawings, specifications, and calculations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital documentation. Strong math skills, including unit conversions and geometry. Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions, including nights/weekends when needed. Ability to lift 20+ lbs when necessary. Can commute to Canton, Akron, and Clevland areas when necessary. Additional Technical Skills (Preferred): Familiarity with ODOT CMS, standard drawings, and construction inspection methods. Experience with ODOT's AWP system. Experience with digital field reporting tools (iPads, apps, etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. High school diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management , or related field preferred. Non-degreed candidates considered if they meet one of the following: NICET Level I or II in Highway Construction. 1,600+ hours of relevant inspection or material testing within the last 10 years. Prior ODOT experience (HT3-HT5, TM1-TM3, or TA classifications).
