Job Description

Certerra is a nationally recognized provider of engineering, testing, inspection, and certification services supporting innovation, quality assurance, and resilient infrastructure. With over 1,800 professionals nationwide, we combine technical expertise with practical field knowledge to ensure the communities we serve are built to last. We are expanding in the Portland market and are seeking Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI's) across all experience levels. Our current backlog includes several large, multi-year projects in the region, providing long-term stability and meaningful project involvement for our team. Duties:
The Certified Welding Inspector performs inspection and testing services on some of the most dynamic and high-profile construction projects in the Portland region, supporting safe, code-compliant, and high-quality project delivery. This role requires strong technical judgment, the ability to interpret construction documents, and clear communication with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes. Perform welding inspections in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes Read and interpret construction documents, RFIs, and structural details Conduct required field testing and inspections within certification scope Prepare accurate and timely daily reports Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and internal staff Maintain and pursue relevant certifications Uphold strong safety practices in all field environments Participating in continuing education and professional development We are hiring at multiple levels - responsibilities and compensation will align with experience and certifications.
Education/Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred certifications include (examples - not all are required) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Other ICC Certifications such as Proprietary Anchors, Reinforced Concrete, etc. Candidates are not required to hold all listed certifications.
