What Your Day Will Look Like:
: As a senior construction inspector, youll monitor the contractors on-site construction activities and inspect materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract documents for excavations, drainage facilities, road surfaces, and structures. Youll take field measurements of pay items, report the contractors daily production rates, and schedule work and inspection phases with the contractors superintendent and agency personnel. Providing support to various project procedures, particularly in documentation development for the final estimate package. You`ll mentor and assist in the management and training of other construction inspection staff. The senior construction inspector reports to the project administrator. On occasion, project needs may require you to work during nighttime hours either intermittently or for extended periods of time.
What You'll Do:
: Inspect, observe, document, and verify work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Utilize engineering inspection practices to perform complex mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date. Maintain inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified. Perform on-site material testing and produce as-constructed sketches. Direct coordination between field efforts and administrative staff to increase, decrease, or modify reporting and monitoring according to project work activities. Organize and lead field staff meetings to provide updates on project efforts and procedures. Delegate inspector staff responsibilities and allocate resources to support current and projected project conditions and activities. Assist in the training efforts of more junior staff.
What You'll Need:
: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, two (2) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection Or a Civil/Construction Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn any additional required certifications and/or qualifications within one year. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record. "The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their vehicle or a company vehicle to various worksite locations as required by the employer." This field job primarily operates in outdoor work environments that may include exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements. Ability to function during occasional extreme weather on the jobsite. While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee may include frequent talking, hearing, standing, moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, balancing, coordination, and occasional sitting or operating a company vehicle.
