Code Enforcement Officer II City of Garland - 3.2 Garland, TX Job Details Full-time 2 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication In-person customer service Non-CDL Class C Full Job Description Summary Responsible for enforcing city ordinances and development codes dealing with nuisance, health and safety, and property maintenance. Minimum Housing requirements for Single Family residential, Multi-Family, Commercial property, and Zoning.
Pay Range:
(Depending on qualifications and experience) Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned . Respond to and investigate citizen complaints. Actively patrol assigned areas to review for code violations. Issue notices of violation, citations, inspection reports, and nuisance abatement work orders for city contractors. Assist in case file management, preparing cases for warrants and Property Standards Board hearing cases. Enforce City Ordinances, Garland Development Code, and International Building and Residential Codes by performing scheduled inspections. Represent City at Homeowner and Neighborhood Association Meetings. Represent City in Court as required. Assist with training new Code Inspectors. Maintain required CEU's for Code Officer Certification as required by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Respond in person, verbally and written communication with property owners/managers. Zoning Inspections Minimum Qualifications 60 college credit hours or advanced training beyond high school level in related area. 4 years experience in code enforcement Certified Code Officer II certification or another applicable certification approved by Management Elevated customer service-related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience Associate Degree in a related field such as Public Administration, Construction Science, etc. ICC Zoning Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of applicable ordinances, laws, codes, and regulations Comprehensive knowledge of construction standards and inspection procedures Ability to learn quickly and remain flexible in a fast-paced work environment Ability to maintain neat and concise data Multi-lingual skills highly preferred Basic skills in Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel) Comprehensive knowledge of Code Compliance Software system. Working knowledge of Zoning Regulations Licenses and Certifications Certified Code Officer II certification or another applicable certification approved by Management ICC Zoning Inspector Certification within 12 months of hire Valid Class C Texas driver's license Based on current TDLR requirements
