Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Utility Locator and become a vital part of ensuring safe, efficient construction and infrastructure projects. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to prevent damage and ensure safety on job sites. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth project execution while maintaining the highest standards of safety and precision. Duties Use specialized equipment and techniques to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electric, and communication lines before excavation begins. Interpret blueprints, construction plans, and land survey data to accurately identify utility locations. Operate field equipment including backhoes, forklifts, and cabling tools to assist with site preparation and utility marking. Conduct on-site inspections at construction sites to verify utility locations and ensure compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with construction teams, surveyors, and project managers to coordinate utility locating efforts effectively. Maintain detailed records of utility locations, markings, and field observations for project documentation. Assist with related tasks such as trenching, cabling installation, or site cleanup as needed to support project progress. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar field service role involving utility locating or land surveying. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, construction site procedures, and underground utility systems. Hands-on experience operating backhoes, forklifts, or other heavy machinery used in site preparation. Familiarity with cabling installation techniques and safety protocols related to underground utilities. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and documenting findings accurately. Valid certifications in utility locating or related fields are preferred; relevant experience can substitute where applicable.
