This position is a great fit for someone who takes pride in being out in the field, solving problems, and ensuring projects are built the right way. You will play a key role in daily inspections, verifying contractor work complies with plans, specifications, and contract requirements while helping keep projects safe, efficient, and on schedule. From maintaining daily reports and tracking materials to coordinating with field engineers and contractors, your work directly contributes to the success of transportation infrastructure across Utah.

What You'll Do:
Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications. Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date. Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified. Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of construction related experience. All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
What You'll Bring:
Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, utility, and transportation construction practices, along with experience interpreting project plans, specifications, and contract documents. Experience performing daily inspections, documenting contractor work, tracking quantities and materials, and ensuring compliance with UDOT standards and project requirements.
UDOT CTP
Level II certifications - REQUIRED HMA or concrete paving experience, with the ability to understand and inspect active construction operations in the field. Experience working on UDOT projects, including direct involvement in roadway, utility, or transportation infrastructure construction. ATTSA Traffic Control, SRDT, Moisture/Density Gauge, and ACI/CTT certifications. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while helping projects stay safe, organized, and on schedule. A valid Utah driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Utah — yes, your own set of wheels helps too.
