In this energetic role, you will be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground telecommunication utilities to prevent damage during construction and excavation projects. Your expertise will help protect critical infrastructure, support construction crews, and promote safety across job sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply field service skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to community safety and project success. Responsibilities Utilize specialized equipment and techniques to locate underground telecommunication utilities such as fiber optic cables, conduits, and other cabling infrastructure. Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and utility maps to identify the location of underground utilities. Perform land surveying tasks to establish precise locations for utility lines and ensure accurate markings on the ground. Operate field machinery including backhoes, forklifts, and other construction equipment to assist in excavation or site preparation when necessary. Conduct thorough field inspections at construction sites, ensuring all utilities are properly marked before digging begins. Document all utility locations with clear markings and detailed reports, maintaining accurate records for project teams. Collaborate closely with service technicians, contractors, and project managers to coordinate safe excavation activities and resolve locating challenges promptly. Experience Proven service technician experience or background in utility locating, land surveying, or related field service roles. Hands-on experience operating machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, or similar equipment used in construction or utility work. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, construction site procedures, and underground cabling systems. Familiarity with safety protocols related to utility locating and excavation activities. Experience working on construction sites with a focus on utility detection, marking, and protection measures. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards. Prior experience with cable installation or telecommunications infrastructure is a plus.
