Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Locator, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction and maintenance projects. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately identify and mark Underground telecommunications, to prevent costly damages and ensure worker safety. This energetic position requires a proactive approach, keen attention to detail, and strong field service skills. As a Utility Locator, you will collaborate closely with construction crews, land surveyors, and project managers to facilitate smooth operations from start to finish. Duties Use specialized equipment and techniques to locate underground utilities across various construction sites. Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps to accurately identify utility locations. Operate field equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, and cable locators to assist in marking utility lines. Conduct land surveying activities to verify utility positions relative to site boundaries and existing infrastructure. Mark underground utilities clearly with paint or flags according to safety standards and project requirements. Maintain detailed records of utility locations, markings, and field observations for project documentation. Collaborate with service technicians and construction teams to coordinate safe excavation and installation activities. Experience Prior experience as a service technician or in utility locating is highly preferred. Strong background in land surveying or related field service roles enhances accuracy and efficiency. Hands-on experience with utility locating equipment, blueprints, and construction site operations is essential. Familiarity with backhoe operation, forklift handling, and cabling work supports versatile field performance. Knowledge of safety protocols related to underground utilities and construction environments is required. Proven ability to read technical drawings and interpret complex blueprint layouts accurately. Experience working on construction sites or in environments requiring precise utility identification ensures readiness for this role.
