The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Telescopic Boom Cranes
  • Swing Cab, as well as supporting heavy equipment used in transmission line construction and maintenance.
Starting pay for this position is $40.00/hr. depending on experience. Your Responsibilities as a
Crane Operator:
Operate Telescopic Boom Cranes
  • Swing Cab in support of transmission construction and maintenance activities.
Perform hoisting, pulling, and rigging operations, including work near energized lines and equipment. Install and remove utility poles in roadside, off road, and difficult terrain. Read and understand construction plans, operator manuals, rigging tables, and load charts. Complete OSHA-approved Mobile Crane Periodic Safety Inspection Records daily and report defects immediately. Transport, set up, and operate heavy construction equipment including telescopic boom cranes, lowbed trailers, excavators, and other transmission construction equipment. Ensure all work complies with OSHA, DOT, federal, state, company and customer safety standards. Identify and mitigate jobsite hazards and maintain a thorough understanding of construction safety codes and guidelines. Provide on-site oversight, coach and mentor less experience crew members, and promote safe work practices through leading by example. What We Need From You (Our Requirements): Must have a valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and a minimum of 6 months of Class A driving experience. High school graduate or equivalent; technical education preferred. Must have a minimum of 5 years' crane operating experience. Ability to successfully obtain and/or maintain required licenses, certifications & documents. Must have professional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and a strong work ethic; self-motivated. Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug/alcohol screen. Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Card (DOT Card). Proficiency using a smartphone, tablet and data collection software. Ability to lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 50 lbs. frequently. Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions including standing, walking, and working on uneven ground for the full workday. Ability to operate/drive all trade-related equipment/vehicles for several hours every day. Must have the ability to see/distinguish colors and to hear clearly.
